1. Responsible Fuel & Efficient Cruising
We plan routes carefully to reduce unnecessary engine use, optimise fuel efficiency, and minimise emissions. For example, we only refuel to 50%, reducing the weight of the vessel, increasing the fuel efficiency whilst maintaining a safe operating range. Eco cruising speeds are encouraged where possible to reduce fuel consumption and protect marine life.
2. Supporting Local Marine Ecosystems
We follow strict anchoring guidelines to avoid damaging sensitive sea beds. Where mooring buoys are available, we prioritise their use to protect underwater habitats.
3. Eco-Friendly Products Onboard
We use biodegradable cleaning products, eco-conscious toiletries, and avoid harsh chemicals that could impact the marine environment.
4. Waste Reduction & Recycling
Bond Charters operates a zero overboard waste policy. Waste is stored securely and recycled or disposed of responsibly onshore. We use recyclable bottles and minimise single-use plastics on every charter.
5. Treatment of Waste Water
Our newly installed onboard system collects waste and stores it safely in our black tank, before offloading and treatment in the Marina’s waste treatment facility. Thereby removing any impact to marine life.
6. Respecting Wildlife
Our skipper James, with years of local experience, follows responsible marine-life interaction guidelines. We maintain safe distances, slow speed zones, and respect marine life.
7. Local Sourcing & Community Support
We prioritise sourcing our food and drinks from local suppliers and small businesses- this reduces our carbon footprint, lessens the transportation impact and supports our local community and economy.
8. Energy Efficiency
We have installed a high-capacity AGM battery storage system, this means we don’t need to run the generator when at anchor, saving on fuel consumption and producing zero emissions. Batteries are recharged while vessel is underway and also whilst connected to shore power in the marina.
9. Continuous Progress
Sustainability is an evolving journey. We review our practices regularly and embrace new technologies and methods that further reduce our impact while maintaining luxury and comfort.
